I ordered the upgrade from the Cakewalk site and there was nothing in the package that said it was the serial number. I tried a couple of the numbers on the packaging that could have been a serial number but I just got an invalid message. Last time I bought an upgrade I bought it though the UK distributer and that came with a serial number on the cd case. This time there is a place on the cover for cd one to write the serial number and email address but no serial number. So at the moment I have the upgrade but still can't install it! Just had my upgrade and got the same problem - UK based and no UK support numbers. There is a sticker on the CD - it's blank and covers over a serial number which I can just about read.
A separate slip of paper was included with a number on in the following format: 11-AAAA1.11-2AA (I made this one up) but CW won't even install with that one and when I enter the one that has been covered up it installs but won't register - just says invalid. I am sat here wondering if I have bought a monkey because if they can't even write a simple install routine and match a few software keys it doesn't bode well for the rest of the program!

Sorry to rant but this kind of crap customer service really winds me up - I just hope someone from CW bothers to read these forums and does something about it. Great forums btw - I find loads of answers on here but rarely post a question as most of mine have been answered before. If it came from Cakewalk directly, the serial number should have been emailed to you. If you got it from another retailer, it will be on a sticker.
If u don't have an email from Cakewalk, it means it was somehow filtered out by either junk or spam filter. But then there are those (like those on Verizon & a few others) who are just not receiving the emails at all, due to their strong spam filter at the ISP level, that are just filtering it out before it even reaches the person. If u still dont have it, either give a call to customer support or email them. It does take longer thru email, but if you are out of the U.S.
It might be worth the wait. I was told that they are trying to keep up w/the emails, but there are a TON of them.
If it came from them directly, the serial number was emailed only with this new version. Hope this clear some stuff up and helps CakeMaker. Thanks both To be honest - I would call the US support if I could work out what the correct international formatting from the UK was but life's too short!
I did buy this direct from Cakewalk - if my ISP filters spam - they email to tell me and my own spam filter quarantines messages so I can check them - there have been none. There was a sticker - but see my original post - the code was invalid and failed to even allow me to install the product! I bought this upgrade as it seemed great value at 40 UKP and includes an audio metronome as the midi one no longer works on HS2004 since I switched from a soundblaster card to a M-Audio Delta 1010LT as the latter has no internal sounds (but is an infinitely better card in so many other ways). I know there are workarounds but this upgrade will solve the problem and provide other goodies as well - so long as I can get it registered! If anyone knows the UK call format for CW support in the States - post it here and I'll try them. Finally rang Sonar in the USA (God knows what that cost me) and a bloke called Dan eventually traced my order and gave me a new serial number. Tried registering with that - same problem.
Uninstalled and re-installed with new serial number - tried to register - same blasted problem. Guess I'll just have to box it up, send it back to Boston and tell 'em to shove it. What a waste of space - this is software protection gone mad - even Microsoft aren't this paranoid. Shame cos it looks like a good upgrade.
The lamest customer service I have experienced since Pinnacle (and is that lame). Andy update - rang 'em again and they caved in and gave me a reg code - that's more like it.
